Leveling

XP for messages and for time in voice, rank cards, and a public leaderboard.

The leveling page
XP rates, rewards, and where level-ups are announced.

#How XP is earned

Two sources, configured separately.

Source How it works
Messages XP per message, with a cooldown so spamming does not pay
Voice XP per minute in a voice channel

The message cooldown is the important one. Without it, the leaderboard measures who types fastest rather than who is around.

#Level rewards

A role granted at a level. Set as many as you like.

Rewards can stack, or the previous one can be removed as the next is granted. A server where level 10, 20 and 30 each have a colour usually wants them replaced rather than collected.

#Level-up messages

Where the announcement goes, and what it says.

Option Effect
Announcement channel A specific channel, or the one they levelled in
Off Grant the reward silently

The wording is a template. Rewrite it under Messages.

#Exemptions

Channels that earn no XP, and roles that earn none. A bot-commands channel and a muted role are the two most servers set.

#Rank cards

/rank renders a card with the member's level, XP, progress to the next level and their place on the board. It is drawn as an image, not an embed.

#The leaderboard

/leaderboard in Discord, and a public board on the website. Both can be sorted by overall XP, weekly, monthly, voice time or message count.

#Hiding people

Members can be hidden from the board without losing their XP. Banning someone hides them automatically; unbanning clears that hide but never clears one a staff member set by hand.

Hidden members keep their XP and their rank card. They just do not appear publicly.

#Staff commands

/setxp sets a member's XP directly. /resetxp clears one member or the entire board. Both are staff-only and both are logged.

/resetxp on the whole board cannot be undone. There is no snapshot to roll back to.
